Equinor to use the world's first ammonia-powered supply vessel
Equinor has signed a contract with Eidesvik Offshore for the conversion of one of its offshore oil platform supply - the Viking Energy supply vessel - to ammonia operation. The vessel will be fully converted and put into operation with low emissions in 2026.
Technology Group Wärtsilä will build the engine on behalf of Eidesvik Offshore.
Wartsila will supply the engine, complete fuel gas supply system, including a tank of 200 cubic metres, and exhaust after-treatment for the conversion of the “Viking Energy”.
