Projects Infrastructure
Hydrogen vehicles need refueling infrastructure to be able to refuel. Currently, two public hydrogen filling stations are operational in Belgium and four in the Netherlands. Dozens of additional filling stations are expected in the coming years. Both a commitment to the roll-out of hydrogen vehicles and refueling infrastructure can break the well-known 'chicken and egg' situation.
Hydrogen filling stations are expensive to realize and as long as there is insufficient consumption, it remains difficult to calculate business cases. Petrol stations are available at 350 bar for refueling heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks and at 700 bar for passenger cars. The realization of (multi-fuel) bunker facilities is also being considered for shipping.
