Several new ‘natural hydrogen resources’ announced recently
In contrast to grey, blue and green hydrogen, that are made from another energy source, white hydrogen is a primary energy source, created underground by chemical reactions
Since the first discovery of ‘white’ or ‘natural’ hydrogen in Mali in 1987, with production starting there in 2014, a search for other sources of white hydrogen has been started all over the world.
Last year, a large discovery has been made in France, in the Lorraine region.
Very recently, new sources were identified in Canada, Finland and the US.
In the US and Canada, mining company Max Power and the Australian mining firm Fortescue are exploring different regions where natural hydrogen sources are predicted to be present.
Recently they discovered a large source of white hydrogen in the Western Canadian province of Saskatchewan, where at some points hydrogen with a concentration of more than 96% has been found.
In Finland, the British Company Bluejay Mining, has discovered a significant deposit of white hydrogen at its Outokumpu project. This discovery is said to be comparable to the largest known deposit of white hydrogen in France.
