What’s the fuzz around the hydrogen bus?
The Flemish transport company De Lijn introduced the first hydrogen buses in 2014. These buses were supplied by Van Hool - a pioneering collaboration on Flemish roads. The initial fleet was co-financed by Europe. Even after the end of the European project, De Lijn continued to operate the buses for another five years on its own. After 10 years of loyal service, De Lijn decided to retire the buses due to a combination of circumstances.
You can quickly notice the promise of the future when you take a look at the 'Fuel Cell Electric Buses knowledge base'. The websites gives an overview of data, knowledge and experiences about fuel cell electric buses and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in Europe. In addition, you will find a wealth of useful information about the policy framework, as well as safety aspects and other regulations. How useful and inspiring!
