Event description 
In July 2023, WaterstofNet presented the results of the study ‘Cross-border hydrogen value chain in the Benelux and its neighbouring regions’ at the Benelux Hydrogen Conference organised by the Benelux Secretariat. Although the study was already handed over to Dutch Minister Rob Jetten in May 2023, it was an official moment to also hand over the study to Belgian Minister Tinne Van der Straeten, Vice-President Région Grand Est François Werner and representatives of the Benelux countries and the neighbouring regions in France and Germany.

This study was well received as it quantified the hydrogen value chain in the Benelux and the adjacent neighbouring regions in France and Germany in 2030 and 2050 and provided concrete opportunities for cross-border collaboration to accelerate the development of hydrogen in the region. The region was named “Europe’s beating hydrogen heart”. For example, did you know that 67% of European hydrogen imports will take place in the region in 2030? Or that 41% of European hydrogen demand for chemicals and 35% of European hydrogen demand for steel is foreseen in the region in 2030?
