Sunshine stands for "SUN-based Smart battery and Hydrogen Integrated Novel Energy concept".
Within this feasibility study - which is supported by VLAIO and facilitated by the spearhead cluster Energy Flux50 - the technical and economic feasibility of 'hybrid' energy storage (battery and hydrogen) at the Terranova Solar solar park in Zelzate was investigated. The aim is to create added value for the electricity produced.

Possible valorisation paths include the production and sale of hydrogen for, among other things, zero-emission transport applications and support services for the electricity grid.

The continuation of this feasibility study is to build a demonstrator at the Terranova Site. A consortium has been formed for this.

The role of WaterstofNet

WaterstofNet elaborated this project proposal within the Hydrogen Industry Cluster and coordinated the market exploration for hydrogen.
