Vopak’s Duqm deal on hydrogen hub
Oman’s ambition to position Duqm as a leading integrated industrial and energy hub is gaining momentum. State-owned energy company OQ has entered into a strategic partnership framework with Dutch storage specialist and WIC-member Royal Vopak, aiming to jointly develop terminal infrastructure and sustainable energy facilities in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD). The collaboration aims to leverage Vopak’s expertise in large-scale logistics and storage to support the region’s growing needs for hydrocarbons, chemicals, and low-carbon products. Beyond the technical scope, the partnership sets to attract international players, generate employment, and reinforce Duqm’s role in the broader energy transition.
