Colruyt Group opens unique green hydrogen refuelling station and anounces investment of 35 million euro in hydrogen economy!
On Monday 8 October, Colruyt Group opened a unique DATS 24 hydrogen station.
Colruyt Group is active in the distribution of food and non-food products in Belgium, France and Luxembourg,
DATS 24 is the fuel specialist of Colruyt Group and has a network of 122 filling stations throughout Belgium.
The station was opened by CEO Jef Colruyt in the presence of Flemish Prime Minister Geert Bourgeois and Minister of Energy Bart Tommelein.
It is a unique station in Europe because the hydrogen pump is integrated in a ‘traditional multi-fuel’ filling station. In addition, the hydrogen is produced locally from green energy.
The upscaling of the filling station is part of the 'Hydrogen Region 2.0' project and is co-financed by Interreg Flanders-the Netherlands.
Colruyt Group believes that hydrogen can play an important role in making our mobility and energy supplies more sustainable.
“This first public hydrogen filling station is certainly not an isolated case”, says Jef Colruyt, CEO of Colruyt Group. “Over the next five years, Colruyt Group intends to invest an extra 35 million euros in the hydrogen economy, including four new hydrogen filling stations.”
