Sealing the ammonia-deal: CMB.TECH and MOL sign agreement for nine ammonia-powered vessels

CMB.TECH has signed an agreement with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and MOL Chemical Tankers (MOLCT) for the development of nine ammonia-powered vessels. These ships, set for delivery between 2026 and 2029, will be among the world’s first ammonia-powered so-called ‘Newcastlemax bulk carriers and chemical tankers’. The deal includes three ammonia-fitted 210 000 dwt Newcastlemax bulk carriers, jointly owned by CMB.TECH and MOL, and chartered to MOL for 12 years. Additionally, six chemical tankers—two ammonia-fitted and four ammonia-ready—have been ordered by CMB.TECH and will be chartered to MOLCT for periods of 10 and 7 years, respectively.
